One thing, of course, about wandering the same areas repeatedly is that one has the opportunity to see how things look at different times of day, different weather, and in different seasons. But maybe more crucially, in different states of mind and mood, and varying states of sobriety and lucidity, focus and distraction. ‘Familiarity breeds contempt’, the old saying goes. Or it can breed nuance, to paraphrase Ray Metzker.
